The Martin Refuge: Homestead
The focus here is on birds (although coyote and bobcat appear from time to time). Because owners John and Audrey Martin live on the Homestead, these "wild" birds are more like family. They are fed daily and are known to flock in at scheduled feeding times.

Three professionally designed photo blinds are available, or photographers are welcome to wander the easily accessible paths to get the perfect shot.

Small ponds offer specialty birds and migrants such as Plain Chachalaca, Curve-billed Thrasher, Golden-fronted Woodpecker, Great Kiskadee, Green Jay, and many more South Texas specialties. A large pond attracts egrets, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Kingfishers, and others.

  • Three blinds that hold two photographers each
  • Ponds and feeders at each photo blind
  • Close to town
  • Drive to your blind
  • Water, shade, picnic areas and restrooms available
  • Phone and computer access available
  • Cost of $125 per day per person
